Pollution refers to the introduction or presence of a poisonous substance in an environment. Therefore to understand pollution clearly, we should look at the various types of pollution. There are four types of pollution. That is air pollution, noise and light pollution water, and soil pollution. As their names suggest, water pollution mainly occurs in waters, the soil or land pollution happens inland, the air and light pollution occurs in the air. Therefore having known those four types of pollution, let us now look keenly on the effects and cause of the contamination.
Air Pollution
The air pollution is a type of pollution that makes the air around us dangerous. The primary air pollutant is the most significant cause of air pollution. The central air pollution refers to the pollution caused directly from the course such as burning of the fossils fuels and many more. Among the leading cause of air pollution is the use of fertilizers according to a particular study. Most of the fertilizers contain ammonia. When ammonia reacts with other gases emitted from the vehicles, there is the production of aerosols that cause health problems of the pulmonary artery. Therefore one of the effects of air pollution is causing lungs problem.
Water Pollution
Another type of pollution that has hazardous effects is water pollution. Over recent years, water pollution has become one of the significant threats to the survival of aquatic animals and plants. Water pollution occurs in various ways such as when the wastewater mixes with clean water when fertilizers are washed into the lakes and oceans, pesticides, and other dangerous chemicals such as mercury flow towards water bodies. Those substances cause water pollution. Some of the negative effects of water pollution are such as killing aquatic life, such as those of fish, water plans, and many more. Also, oil spills from the vessels such as ship and others cause water pollution.
Soil or Land Pollution
This type of pollution occurs in the land. Land pollution can be caused by various things, such as the application of pesticides, mining, overgrazing, deforestation, flooding, and many more. Those are some of the causes of soil pollution. Some of the effects of soil pollution are such as the killing of essential microorganisms such as bacteria’s, exposing the top layer soil and can be easily eroded and many more. Therefore the soil erosion can make our soil fertility reduce and thus have grater affects agricultural production.
Sound Pollution and Noise
The sound pollution is pollution caused by excess sound in the environment. Some of the sources of sound pollution are such as loud music, hooting from vehicles, and many more. Also, the light can be regarded as a pollutant. Some of the leading causes of light pollution include prolonged lighting from artificial lights. The main effects of the noise and light pollution are that they can cause ear problems and eye problems respectively.
Therefore having considered the above-discussed types of pollution and its effects, also it is clear the air pollution can cause increased chances of getting cardiovascular diseases, coughing, wheezing, throat problems many.
Some of the effects of water pollution are killing of aquatic plants and animals. The other effects of pollution are causing irritability, headache, hearing loss of soil degradation among many others. Therefore the above discussed are the four types of pollution and their effects.
